Spotlight- Francesca

I came across this blog the other day and I instantly became obsessed with it! The first post was about this maxi skirt she MADE. Not only did she make it, but it only cost $2!

I knew I had just found one of my new favorite blogs.
Her name is Francesca and her blog is called Restyle. Restore. Rejoice.
She has great diy project ideas that are really trendy and easy to do!
Check out her blog here!

Tell us about yourself:
Hey all! My name is Francesca and I’m a newlywed living in the Bay Area. I have an incredible husband Nick. I’m from a family of 12 kids…which is AMAZING (2nd oldest!). I’m a lover of fashion, I enjoy restoring furniture, I’m an art major and I’m currently perfecting my homemade lattes! And my favorite color hands down is seafoam green :)

When did you start getting into DIY projects?:
I started getting into DIY right after I got married. I always liked doing crafts and after I got married I enjoyed making things for our house. I would find things for sale at stores and refused to pay for expensive items that I knew I could make! Plus, it’s a great feeling getting a compliment on something and being able to say you made it!

What project have you done that you are the most proud of?:
My favorite project that I’ve done was restoring a set of parlor chairs! I found the pair at a local thrift store when I was living in South San Francisco, and fell in LOVE. The back was larger than they usually are and I totally saw the potential in them. It was such a fun time picking out the fabric to reupholster them with and what color to paint the chair. I took a picture of one and I think it turned out pretty nicely if I do say so myself :)

What advice do you have to those who are thinking about getting into turning trash into treasure?DON’T BE AFRAID! But seriously, don’t hesitate when choosing colors or fabrics, go with your gut, because if you don’t like it you can paint over it or change the fabric! You would be amazed to see what a nice coat of paint will do to just about anything! I also frequent thrift stores, just to see what is out there. I don’t usually go looking for specific items, and that’s when I score the most!

What can readers find by going to your blog?
Readers will see fun DIY projects that are easy to do, cute outfits that are ALL bought at a reasonable price and ideas for turning trash to treasure!

What is one of your current favorite fashion trends?
I’m in love with chiffon blouses right now. It’s a feminine piece that can be dressed up or down, worn with pants or skirts, and will always be classic. I’m also crazy about blazers. They are a staple in my book.

I'm excited to try some of her diy projects this month! One of my favorites from her blog is turning light colored jeans into dark jeans! Check out her diy projects, fashion trends, and more at Restyle.Restore.Rejoice!
